Alex Kaiser

A former soccer player turned passionate volleyball coach, Alex Kaiser found his way into the sport after being invited to play coed 4s with friends. What started as a casual invitation quickly turned into a deep love for the game. After playing recreationally for a couple of years, Alex came across a Better at Beach camp in St. Petersburg, FL in 2021. Living in Orlando at the time, he made the trip solo and, despite having no experience in 2-on-2 volleyball, immediately felt at home.

That first camp sparked a fire. He returned the following year and, after the camp ended, offered to volunteer his time to support upcoming events. Immersed in the Better at Beach system and surrounded by elite players and coaches, Alex dove headfirst into learning every aspect of the game. His commitment led him to relocate to St. Pete, where he continued his development and began coaching and leading classes for a local club.

With no traditional indoor volleyball background and only four years of 2s experience, Alex knows firsthand how overwhelming and frustrating the learning curve can be. That’s why he’s especially passionate about helping beginner and intermediate players gain clarity and confidence—offering them the same “fast track” opportunity he was fortunate enough to receive. His unique journey, fueled by curiosity, humility, and grit, is proof that it’s never too late to compete—and succeed—in this sport. Through it all, Alex believes that growth and learning should go hand-in-hand with fun, laughter, and a deep love for the game—because the best kind of progress is the kind you enjoy every step of the way.

Originally from South Carolina and now based in Charleston, this dedicated coach discovered beach volleyball after finishing a college and semi-professional soccer career in 2019. Though coming to the sport later than most, he quickly fell in love with the game and set ambitious goals. That drive led him to California in 2021 to pursue the dream of playing professional beach volleyball and competing among the sport's elite.

His unique perspective as a late starter has shaped his coaching philosophy, allowing him to relate to athletes who may not have followed traditional volleyball pathways.

Over the past three years, he has shared his knowledge and passion with athletes worldwide, coaching hundreds of players through Better at Beach's online programs and leading more than 20 training camps. His association with Better at Beach has allowed him to impact players at all levels.

Now back in Charleston, he continues to compete on the AVP tour qualifiers while coaching with Better at Beach and building a thriving adult beach volleyball community in the Southeast. His coaching approach focuses on breaking down technique, unlocking quick wins, and fostering genuine enjoyment of the game.

As someone who started late in beach volleyball, he brings a unique perspective to coaching that emphasizes accessibility and rapid skill development.

Jasmine Hales

Jasmine Hales is a beach volleyball coach and program creator with over 13 years of coaching experience. A Prairie View A&M University alumna from San Antonio, Texas, she originally competed as a collegiate indoor volleyball player before transitioning to beach volleyball during the pandemic.

After graduating from Holmes High School where she excelled in volleyball and golf, Hales earned her degree from Prairie View A&M. She began coaching indoor volleyball, serving as an assistant at Wagner High School before taking on head coaching roles. During the pandemic, she shifted to beach volleyball and pursued professional-level play until a torn ACL in 2022 redirected her focus.

Hales' unique journey from indoor collegiate athlete to beach volleyball coach allows her to bridge gaps for developing athletes. She focuses on technical skill development combined with character building, creating well-rounded individuals both on and off the court. Her late start in beach volleyball provides distinctive perspective for athletes transitioning between sports or beginning their beach volleyball journey later in their careers.
